Make $$$ With This Simple Trick? Marketing Scams #Rant

Hello to all of my fellow marketers who could be watching this video, and if you’re not a marketer, watch anyway. But have you ever heard anyone say, “I hate marketers”? Well, I’ve heard it myself and I’m a marketer, and I’m sure most of my colleagues and people in the industry have heard it as well. I’m not surprised because quite often, I agree with them because of crap like this.

So, yes, I am calling out all of the snake oil salesmen I see across my Facebook feed time and time again, and on LinkedIn. That rant is coming up next.
Hi, guys. I’m the big marketer, Darren Taylor, giving you tips, insight, and opinion on all things marketing. If that sounds something that’s good for you, you should consider subscribing. Today, I’m having a rant. Yes, I’m pissed off because today, I saw on my Facebook feed, at least 10 times, typical snake oil marketers with their schemes and systems that will make you rich in 30 days. I’m sick of it because I’ll hear people who quite often say, “I don’t like marketers” And they site those kinds of people as examples because they might have been ripped off or they’re sick of seeing obvious scams in their news feed.

Now, you might say to me, “Hold on Darren, how do you know that these people are scammers? How do you know they haven’t got a system where you can build an online affiliate business in 30 days or a month or six months, with zero online marketing experience?” You just answered your own question. If you have zero online marketing experience, it is very unlikely that you’ll be able to launch an online business marketing a third party product with an affiliate website, considering SEO, PPC, any other biddable channels, social media, and promote a service or a product to profitability with no online marketing experience. It’s just ridiculous.

“So, Darren you’re right,” I could hear you saying. ”So, what do we do about it as a marketing industry? What can we do to eliminate this crap?” Well, if I’m honest, I’m at a complete loss because I go to these websites, it’s out of speculation, I have a little look around and they’ve got a massive disclaimer around, ”We don’t guarantee results”, which is fine, which is fair because, in marketing, you can’t guarantee results, that’s fair enough. But the way they’re phrasing it is often to cover their back without actually acknowledging that what they offer, their system, doesn’t actually work.

It doesn’t matter how many pictures they post of BMWs, Bentleys, and Mercedes in their front garden, and he rolls up in his car and says, “Look at me, I got rich.” Well, guess what mate? I read your profile, you’re a professional marketer. You are used to marketing, you’ve got 10 years in the game, you’ve done some great online marketing funnels. You’ve done things with email campaigns, you’ve done organic search, you’ve done blogging, you’ve done videos. You have a wealth of experience in online marketing, so don’t try and tell people who aren’t in marketing absolute crap, that they can get results in 30 days or so because it’s absolute bullshit.

You’ll notice, in all the examples I’m showing you of these snake oil salesmen, I’ve not blurred out any profile pictures or any names because, in a way, I want people to know who they are, and you know what? If the people come across me making this video around what they’re doing, I would gladly go into a conversation with them about what they’re doing and how they’re promoting it to people, explaining they can get results in months or weeks with no online marketing experience because I’d love to tear them a new one and show them that they’re talking absolute crap.

Maybe I’m getting too angry because, at the end of the day, these people will be their own downfall. They will market to the wrong people for a consistent period of time, they’ll churn and burn all these people on a consistent basis, and they might have to change their brand, it might affect their personal brand. There’s so many different things that could go wrong for them. The other thing that I love is the saying ‘cream always rises to the top’, so anyone like that hopefully won’t be around for long. Yes, I’ve seen a lot of these Facebook pages offering systems that are fly-by-night and I just want people to be vigilant.

The main problem I see is lack of online marketing education or understanding. The sooner people who aren’t in marketing can get a basic understanding of what marketing is and how it works, then at that point, those people would have nowhere to go. That is why I started my channel, to teach online marketing and to talk about online marketing, and that’s what I intend to do. Thank you so much for watching. If you liked this video, like it. If you want me to do more rants, let me know in the comments. Until then, don’t forget to subscribe and I will see you next time.
